Some Pinging at High RPM

Some Pinging at High RPM
So I've been getting some pinging only at high RPM, around 4k and up. I only have 35k miles on the car. I ran some fuel system cleaner through it but it didn't seem to help it at all. The strange thing is that it doesn't ping all the time, probably about 30% of the time or so, and it only when I have the pedal to the floor. Any help would be appreciated.
Thx,
Patrick

RE: Some Pinging at High RPM
Could be your timing is a little off, Need new plugs and wires, replace your fuel filter, what gas you run in the car? and what temp is your car when this happens? These are just a few things to look into

RE: Some Pinging at High RPM
I use 91 octane gas(highest here in AZ), I havn't messed with the timing at all but I'm going to my buddies house to check it to be sure. I replaced the Plugs and wires at 22k miles, and I only have 35k now....so I dont think thats it. Thanks for the replies though.

RE: Some Pinging at High RPM
Well finally I see someone with the same problem as I have. Mine pings bad over 3500 when in the throttle especially in 3rd and 4rth gears running stock timing (10) and 87 octane which are what Ford recommended. The car has always had this problem since new. The original owner that I bought it from said he always had to run premium fuel. He had taken it to Ford under the warrantee and they knocked the timing back to 8 degrees and told him to use premium.
Recently I have been thinking of trying 1 heat range cooler plug to see if it clears it up. One heat range is suppose to lower combustion temp by 150 to 200 degrees. I think having to run premium fuel with the timing retarded 2 degree from the factory setting is nuts. Like I said the car has been like this since new so I doubt it's a carbon issue.

I checked it and it appears good. With an ohm meter and an analog multi-tester there is an even sweep from closed to WOT in the resistance range that is specified. It is also set at 0.93 volts at idle position. I know it could be raised to 0.98 volts but I don't think that would be enough to make difference since it is less than a volt.
