you may have a bad axle bearing or carrier or pinion bearings, start with easiest first, = axles remove them and look at surface for pitting or gauling where bearing would ride, the "whir " noise you describe sounds like a bad bearing noise would make

The thing is you don't exactly hear a noise the whirr is just describing how the vibration is like its not a solid vibration its like a cycle this is felt mostly in the shifter.

I think I'm going to throw it up on a set of ramps when I'm off on Sunday and see what I can find. I will check the back tires, should there be any play at all if there is that means the wheel bearing is gone right? Also is there a way to check the motor mounts other then looking at them the motor sits straight and the mounts don't seem to look half bad the trans mount is questionable and the cross member as well. Thanks you're being a great help I appreciate it.

an excessively bad wheel bearing would cause a lot of up and down movement, check the rubber on the mounts and make sure it is not torn

Update:
The trans mount is pretty well shot the rubber was completely falling apart. The crossmember and bushings are also shot one tube is rusted right through. So I have new bushings/crossmember coming.
New problem is I have a squeak or a chirp when I am starting off in 1st It sounds like it could be coming from the pass side. This noise used to be there intermittently but now it is much louder and constant. also it is in rythem with the drive train or tire like chirp....chirp...chirp and gets faster till about 2500rpms then stops. There is no noise when the car is idling in neutral
