Default Bad rear end??

I went for a drive today on the highway and noticed a real bad vibration at around 120kmph. I checked my u joints there doesn't seem to be any slop in them but should you be able to turn the drive shaft with the car in neutral and the hand brake on?? It seems like there is a lot of play at the pinion.

bad rear would only feel bad if you were at a constant speed with little engine load, the car will buck. mine does it. vibration should be u joints/driveshaft, or like mjr said, tire balance. or maybe tranny

I have noticed it in high rpms in 2, 3, 4 gears and at like 2300 in 5th. It is in the shifter and your *** which indicates rear tires it also shakes the back part of the console. I found a 2 wheel lugs that were about a turn from tight but that made no difference. I turned the drive shaft with the car off and in neutral with the hand brake on. It had a lot of play turning side to side(the way the drive shaft turns not pushing side to side)

I am pretty sure I have a bad trans mount but that shouldn't cause this I don't think and I have never had the tires balanced since I owned the car I will probably do this next since one has a leaky valve anyways.

That rotational slop is refered to a backlash. It's either from excessive ring to pinion gear clearance or worn spider gears. Either problem will not cause a vibration.

Are the pinion flange bolts tight?

As for tires. Balancing them does NOT neccessarily mean they will not vibrate. Flat spots, problems with the sidewall or runout can not be balanced out.

Drive shaft bolts are tight

I had a similar problem, turned out to be a bent axle

If you know the tranny mount is bad, I would replace it and see if there's any improvement. A bad mount can cause a vibration.

How did you test to see if the axle was bent?
