Thanks for the links Mattkoly, wonder if this intake was supplied with a baffle plate. To the best of my knowledge it wasn't. I'm still in the process of creating a plate without having to remove the lower intake. Create a new mesh basket with less holes, maybe a couple on the sides, instead of the bottom? The right way is to take the intake off, and will most likely the route I'll take. Thanks from CT,

Scott

Yes, the baffle needs to be on the underside of the intake... but how do you plan on installing it, without removing the intake?

Dudeboy, I was thinking out loud, and thought if the basket that holds the steel wadding, had only a couple of holes, it may pull less oil out of the engine. I undersatand the baffle can only be installed after removal of the lower intake. I was trying to come up with alternative. Looks like it's baffle time. Thanks for the input fella's

Right on, Sounds like you've got it under control.

Take some pictures if you do end up taking it off, seems like this is a common problem and it would be nice to have them for the next guy. I'm a bum, did not get a single picture of motor torn down.

FYI - The upper and lower intakes are not hard to get off, just have to buy a few gaskets. also I called edelbrock for the plate and they sent it to me for free, if you do that, don't forget to ask for the rivits, I didnt' get any and had to drill and tap it for 1/2" 1/4-20 bolts. but it sounds like that's down the road.

Thanks for the pic and info mattkoly, appreciate it. I have come up with a solution. I removed the basket with the steel wadding, and inserted a quarter in the end facing the lower intake. Took it out for a beating and signifigantly less oil was pulled through the PCV. I know this is nuts, but it worked. Only a few drops in the air/water separator, instead of it being nearly full. I will go the baffle route, just don't have time right now.
Thanks,
Scott
