Default port and polish

How much does it usually cost to port and polish the heads when the heads are already taken out of the car?

You don't really want to port and polish the heads for an EFI car the gains are minimal. I would polish the chamber to cut down on carbon build up if your going to polish at all, and just port the runners not polish them. You need a slightly rough surface to promote turbulence to mix the air and fuel better, with the runners polished fuel will collect and puddle on the floor. If they are stock heads I wouldn't do anything to them that cost money, I would find a JY pair of GT40 or GT40P's and do the work to them. But thats just my opinion. Polishing and gasket matching can be done easily at home, but porting for airflow and performance requires a flow bench and alot of knowledge so you don't go through a water jacket and ruin the head. There are some good articles on porting just do some google searching.

I stoped in my local machine shop and asked about porting a set of stock heads I have already had some work done to and they said any where from $400-800. stock heads arn't worth it
