i've been asked that by my uncle who lives in philly and races stangs and by the guy at autozone. lol i sure hope so. the disk says flywheel side and that is the side that i am putting against the flywheel (which is the flatter side of the disk) the other side has the springs and the casing for the springs and sticks out so it wouldnt sit flat against the flywheel.

i've got a dumb question.
when i put the disk on. the side that says flywheel side goes against the fly wheel right?
so when the disk is on the flywheel with the alignment tool in hold it up, i am not suppose to be able to see the writing that says "flywheel side", right?

another note::::

when the first tranny was replaced, my cousin and uncle (mustang knowledgable/racers) installed the new/used t5. My uncle looked a the old one and saw that it was not right, possible a 4 cyl tranny. He called his trans specialist and by describing the housing of the tranny he said it was for a 4 cyl. I ran the code on the car and it used to be a 5.0 automatic.

q: is the bellhousing size for a 4 cyl tranny different then a 8 cyl?
maybe the trans is going in too far and the input shaft is going too deep into the pilot bearing causing it to keep turning.

man i cant tell you for sure but by my search and looking on ebay the 2.3l bellhousings are diffrent than the 5.0s. only say this cause they say 2.3l bellhousing and not 2.3l and 5.0, id bet that would have something to do with it. if not i would get a 5.0 anyways

Oh man I wish you would have brought that up earlier, the 4cyl and 8 cyl housings are indeed slightly diffrent and is the cause for your problems im sure. car-part.com or ebay !! unless u got nice salvage yards around there.. Good luck and have fun when finally get to go tear it up somemore !!

Is it the depth that is different? (from trans mount to block mount)

I am going to take the flywheel shim out today to see if that helps. I have been hearing more bad then good things about putting the shim in. (especially being that i didnt try testing with the new cable in and the shim out)

anything else to check while apart???

I will take pictures and get numbers off of what i can find today. (as long as it doesnt rain)

I'll see about getting the depth of the bellhousing.

Well its raining. But not enough for me to get under and look at the tag on the trans and see that it is a 1352-238 (94-98 3.8 v6 trans).
The input shaft is longer then on a 88 v8.

Anyone know if the input shaft is replaced if the performance of the car will be badly affected if this is still used?

I dont think you want to change out the input shaft, they are both the same on the 3.8 and 5.0 T5's but all together the bellhousings are diffrent.. Does your shifter seem out of place in the car? You just need to get the 5.0 bellhousing, like i said try car-part.com its a salvage yard locater much like the one mabey your local yard uses to try and find parts elsewhere.
