Default Bushings.

The rubber bushings on my car are pretty much dry rotted and torn. I was looking at the energy suspension bushings as that is what i used to replace my motor and transmission mounts. However i came across aluminum bushings for the rack and rear control arms. What are the PROS/CONS to the Aluminum bushings? Do they make them for everything or just control arms and rack?

The suspension needs serious work. Luckily i have a daily driver, the stang is all over the road.

Only thing I have heard is it is pretty noisy for suspension bushings. When I did my u/l control arms I went with polyurethane bushings.

I have aluminum rack bushings and poly's in the control arms. I have no problems with the rack bushings. Some people don't like them though. I have a friend that took his out and went with poly ones.

So basically they are just stiffer? Perhaps like using a solid motor mount?

Pretty much. The only thing that might annoy you is that you can feel (slightly) and hear the steering pump more readily with the aluminum rack bushings. Now, I can't be 100% sure it's only the rack bushings giving me these perceptions. I changed the rack to a Flaming River unit and I changed my engine/transmission mounts with Prothanes along with the aluminum rack bushings at the same time.

I might just play it safe and go with the urethane. Any complaints about those?
