Default Stripping The Hatch Channel

For those who have done their own body work how did you guys strip the paint in the channel around the hatch on the body? I don't want to use liquid stripper if I don't have to and I don't have a media blaster. I'm hoping for something other than elbow grease.

Why do you want to strip it?

I am wanting to take everything down to bare metal to be sure I get all the rust spots and little pits out of the body. I just want to basicly start from a fresh body instead of the old paint/primer. I have already done one quarter panel completly and might as well do the rest. I have thought about not doing the whole channel since it seems like it is gonna be a pain but I just like to be thorough.

Well, I you named your 2 options that would be best. Maybe you could use a numatic scaler. When i did my car, I just scuffed up the paint in there and painted over it.
