Default 1992 OEM radio clock wont go off when turning the key off, HELP!!!

Hi Guys, I just bought a OEM radio from a 1992 and I am putting it in my 1993. After I wired it up, the clock turns on when I turn the key. BUT, then when I turn the key off, the clock still shows but very dim. Then I remove the constant 12V, and the clock goes off. Is this right? The only radios I have had experience with are the newer 1993 radios, not the 92s. I have never seen a 92 radio work, but shouldnt the clock go off totally when turning the key off? I have the 92 wiring harness too which is probably the same as a 93 anyway. I checked all my connections and can't figure it out. Does anybody have a 92 stang with an OEM radio to go look at? Thanks

Why in the world do you still have a stock radio?

There is absolutely no radio that looks nice in a 5.0. The interior is just too old looking.

cant say for sure about mustangs..but on our old f150 with the stock radio...when you turned off the key and took it out the clock still very faintly showed...so maybe its the same way..

Yes this is exactly what Im talking about. Even though it may not be the same exact model, at least I know that another radio has that interesting little feature. Thanks!

Ditch the stock radio and buy a good pioneer.

Depends on what your trying to do? Keep car original? Or for some reason you like the stock radio? I myself like the stock head unit....there is something so old about it thats its cool...OEM is the ****

I like the stock unit. I am trying to be original as well. I also do not want some a-hole a reason to cut my top and get in and steal it. (Its a convertible)
