so more so in stop and go?? if make sure the elec fan is working, there is a high and low speed operation to it which the fan is controlled via imputs from the ect and when temp reaches certain degree low speed comes on and then if that's not enough high speed operation comes on, but all this is commanded on by the ccrm, the black box close to your overflow bottle on a pedastal.....you need to make sure fan is coming on when car is running hot

if the fan is not coming on now then most likely, but unplug fan and hook 12 v direct to it and if it works then the fan may not be the issue, rather what controls the fan = ccrm

Not to highjack this thread but I have an observation on the over heating or rather running hotter than usual. MJR46 and others what do you think. I have no smog pump, no cats, timing at 14 degrees. no problems with running hot. I plugged the EGR off on the intake manifold and it runs really warm, close to overheating and this is running at highway speeds. Could this be caused by something being compensated by the ECU OBD1. Maybe not getting the hot exaust gases into the heads anymore and the system running lean at highway speeds with cold air instead, and creating more heat when system sees EGR opening. Could this possibly be an issue??????? Thanks MAC

when the egr is deleted on a fox body the eec IV deletes the function and soley by plugging off the egr does not keep exhaust gases from coming up to the intake cause exhaust gases are still reaching the intake through the exhaust cross over ports in the heads, the exhaust gases are just not being reintroduced into the cumbustion process in the intake which is what the valve does.........egr's sole purpose is to quench the cylinder temps in the cumbustion chamber so as to reduced the emission of NOX which is deemed as a ozone depleting green house gas.....egr also lowers cumbustion chamber temps so as to reduce possibility of detonation......so if a egr were malfunctioning to the point where it was stuck open then it'd run leaner but it'd also have a noticible rough idle and or misfire so an egr to overheat correlation not likely, hope this explanation helps clear up egr and it's function
