Default Transmission help/advice

I have a 93 LX 5.0 AOD with 119k. While on the highway the other day - 3rd and 4th gears decided to quit. A transmission shop took a look at it and said I needed a new trans and a remanufactured trans would run $1550 installed. For the most part the car is stock with the exception of headers/exhaust, cold air intake, and 3.73 rear. Should I go with a remanufactured trans or start looking for a new one? Which new transmissions are good/bad for daily driving with a little fun on the side? Any advice on my options would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

if you dont plan on modifying the car alot, just get another AOD

a built AOD will run you about $1400+ but its an EASY install, and you wouldent have to worry about it going out anymore.

but if you plan to mod the car, you can get the super COMP AOD, or do like im doing, Removing the AOD and putting a TKO600 in it's place!

Eww... Snow. I'm glad I don't have to wrap up my car for 5 months a year! But I guess it's a trade-off. Canyons, rivers, snow-skiing and brutal winters
or
beaches, para-sailing water-skiing and brutally hot, humid summers.

i was born and raised in flordia, and even with that, about the ONLY thing id give up colorado for, is the ELEVATION

you lose 20% power up here, my car run's a 16.1 off the bottle even with all my mod's.

GT500's are in the upper 13's, mid 14's!!

the job market is better here, cost of living is WAY cheaper then where im from, so yea, i love it here.

winter suck's, but if i drove this car all year round, id spend WAY more money on it, and break alot more offten.

Depends on your hobbies. If you're a whitewater kayak, rock climbing, mountain biking snow-skiing fiend, Colorado is the place for you. If you like to swim for all but 3 months of the year and are into beaches, ocean kayaking, water-skiing and the occasional surfing, Florida is hard to beat. I'd love to live in Florida, and spend a couple months in Colorado each year to get my fill of the kayaking, mountain biking and rock climbing. By the end of a couple months, I'd be longing to leave the deserts and hit the beaches again.

Yeah, the elevation is a killer on performance, but at least you can position yourself on a long downhill straightaway and punch it to feel those 13's. LOL! Florida's got no downhills, cause it's got no uphills! Wait, that's not entirely true. There is the Sunshine Skyway bridge in St Petersburg.
