whats a door skin?
Sorry for the stupid question.. but what is a door skin? I'm looking to trade my camaro for a 87 mustang gt and the guy said the door doesn't have a door skin.. What would i need to do to get a door skin on the door? i have a feeling some welding will be involved.. Or would i just be better off getting a door from pick n pull?

i always thought they were the molded sheet metal that you use to fix the outside of your door if the rus has gotten to it or its been smashed up but it sounds like hes talking about something else but what you said

Yeah.. That was ill probably be doing.. Pick N pull already has a mustang out i can rip apart.
I kinda figured it was the outside sheet metal.. So if the door skin is gone.. Whats there? nothing i assume? Would the window and all the stuff inside be visible?

Thats a big 10-4, if you brought it to a body shop to have a new door skin welded on and then do the body work and spray it, you would end up paying far more than buying a used door and bolting it on, if you are REALLy lucky and find one the same color as your car then you are done, if not just spraying one door will still end up being much cheaper than the whole door skin route.

Pick n pull huh, do you live in texas or is there a place called the pick n pull where you are too?? We have a Budget Pick n Pull here on 190. It would be easiest to just pull the whole door off. The wiring isn't hard to do. you can unplug it on the door and fish the wiring thru or just cut the wires inside the donor car to just be sure you have what you need.
