Default 88 5.0 Hatch resto

Hey everyone, I recently decided to totally tear apart my car and rebuild it from scratch. I have a lot of work ahead of me so updates might be slow but they will come as progress does.

This will e a nice street ride and maybe a track on the weekend. I would like to build a 331 stroker with around 450 HP, what heads, intake, etc.. I'm not sure about yet. I'm open to all suggestions and opinions. Here's where I'm at so far.

Good luck with your build... as you may already know, I've done a complete restoration on both of the Capris seen below. It's lots of work, but the pay off is like nothing else you'll ever experience. Just stick with it and don't throw in the towel... I see too many restorations that are started and never finished... don't let this be one of them.

Quote> "I recently decided to totaly tear apart my car"< judging by only those 2 pics I dont see a reason to tear into the body,if that's what you mean. Engine and the usual other stuff, maybe paint yes.Alot of people ie:most people dont have the knowledge,
tools, workshop and fortitude like Capri does.Anyway good luck! and eat lots 'o vitamins.

CAPRI!!! WHAT IS GOING ON WITH YOUR CAR!!!!!!!!!! lol We haven't had any updates lately.

Good lucky with the tear down man. It looks like you are starting out with a good body so it shouldn't be too bad of a trip for you.

I agree with everyone else here saying i would not mess with the body. Put your time and money into the motor, trans, rear end, and suspension. And most of all dont rush yourself. If you start to rush through something just to get it back on the road again to drive, you could possibly shorten its life span drastically.

Thanks for all of the replies, I agree with all of you. I'm starting with the motor and everything else will follow. Now, for some suggestions. I am considering the CHS 331 Stroker kit, TrickFlow twisted wedge heads, and trickflow stage 2 cam. As far as intake manifold, I'm not sure. I'm not too concerned with cost but nothing rediculous. Again, I'm trying to achieve aroun 450 HP with all motor. Thanks.

331 ftw! i make some nasty power out of mine in my 83. i know EVERYONE likes to push that crappy 347 but thats honestly not the best setup, the rod angle is bad on a 347 and it puts alot of stress on the motor. 331 is the way to go. i have a scat kit, eddy rpm heads, custom cam, weiand intake and a holly carb with 3.55's in the back. i built it up with a f cam and decided to get a custom one made, once i get the new one put in i'll run a dyno and take it to the track

Good luck with your build. I will be checking in from time to time, if my motor ever dies, I plan to do the same!!
