Default when should fuel pressure register?

exactly what the title says. does it register when the key is turned on, when you start cranking the engine, or does the engine have to me running to get a correct reading?

just curious, cuz i'm messing with my car and i have a guage hooked up to the fuel rail and i can't seem to get it to register past 15lb. the car won't even idle so i can't check it will its running thanks.

Yes, you should see pressure as soon as you hit the key. 15psi will not start the car.

Are you hearing any sounds from the pump when you turn the key? Is this a new problem or has it been happening for awhile? Did it just start after you made some changes (regulator, lines, pump, etc.) I know, all basic questions... But sometimes we overlook the obvious.

i had the car running a couple weeks back, had to take off the intake and heads to try and fix two head gaskets leaks. (fixed one, other one still leaking) put all back together and no start, well it starts for literally half a second then dies. Nothing is new since the attempted headgasket leak, same fuel pump, fuel reg, etc, etc.

make sure a line is not pinched anywhere and if not possible bad pump as long as you have proper voltage back at the pump connector

is there a right up on how to test the connector or is it fairly easy? what should the voltage be? if it is a bad pump do you think i get a warranty or something, cuz i literaly have put maybe one or two miles on the thing and maybe 1 hr and 1/2 running time on that pump.
