Opinions please, stud mount or pedestal
I am in the process of head selection for my 331 stroker and I want to get the AFR 185 heads, the question is do I get stud mount or pedestal mount rockers? I have several variables that are making this decision tougher, I like the ease of the pedestal mounts and this engine will never see more than 6500 RPM so should be fine but for some reason AFR only makes the pedestal mount heads in 60CC chambers and I need 58CC to put the compression where I want it. So only stud mount in 58CC chambers but in my 94 I won't be able to fit stud mount rockers under my valve covers! The other option then would be get the 60CC pedestal heads and mill them to get 58CC chambers but then wouldn't that throw off my pushrod length? The doesn't seem to be an easy answer here. Your thoughts and suggestions please

Yeah I thought of that as well and looked into it which opened up a whole nother can of worms, not only are taller valve covers for the 94/95 very rare, they are expensive as hell and then I'd need a spacer between my upper and lower intake so they will fit. Again, there doesn't seem to be an easy answer.

stud mount is so much easier to set up the lifter preload, but if you dont already have stud mount rockers you will need a set, as well as hardened pushrods.
If your stuck on the afr 185 you will want to get a set of longer rocker studs for a smallblock chevy to replace the short ones they send with the head.
I had 3 of my stock afr ones break after 1500kms, and thats when I found out that the poly-lock was only on like 1/16 of an inch.
the valvecover selection should be the same as any fox mustang.
I fit my stock valvecovers with my afr 185 and roller rockers, and the only modification I had to do was to remove the baffle inside the passenger side cover.
I since went to some sheet metal valvecovers and needed to use a 3/8 spacer to clear them as there 3.5 inches high.
