450+ HP with a 302. Comments
Hey guys
Ok heres the deal. Im thinking about buying a 89 to 93 5.0. The main purpose of the car is going to be a camaro killer. Im new to the whole Ford scene. I've been told that you could get alot of horse's out of 302 for about $5000. I was wondering is it possible to get 450+ out of a 302 with that amount. Note that the $5000 has nothing to do with the rear end just engine and maybe a tranny upgrade. Well thanks fro the help guys. Later on Chase.
Also im going to set it up for "stop light to stop light".

if you want it to have that much power you will need to buy an aftermarket block (ex. dart or boss block) because the stock block will break in half with that much hp if you rag on it all the time

it doesn't need 450 hp to be a camaro killer, just the right combonation of parts such as some good heads, cam, intake, suspension, gears and exhaust and maybe a power adder for some fun

It IS possible to get 450 horses, but it wouldn't be dependable. You could take it out every now and then and mash the pedal but If you say its from stop light to stop light, chances are youre gonna be runnin it daily and hittin it HARD. So i'd say no to that idea and get an aftermarket block that can hold the hp no prob.

Yeah thats what ive been told too. Not to step on ol boys toes. But my buddies exact words were. "302 is bulletproof"

Half of you guys dont know what your talking about, 450, yes not a an issue with 5k. Aftermarket block for 450 at the crank lol. I need to start selling dart blocks. Just because 90% of guys are underachievers doesnt mean it cant be done, and it can if you know how to.

the stock block takes about $500 worth of machining and prep, that figure might include a balance. an after market block is about the same. they run about 1,500 to 2k for the block plus the machine work...but imo i wish i went dart the first time around...i wont put any power adders in fear of it splitting.

so mean to tell me you would put 450hp on a stock block that is a dd and races from light 2 light
