Default new cam installed

so lastnight i wrapped up my new cam install on my 83. and when i go to start it, it'll run and sounds nasty at idle i love it. but i hit the throttle and it seems to bog down and when i let off the throttle it putts and then dies. any idea what could be going on?
i'm new to carbs btw, this is the only carb car i've owned.
i know i could have put this in the carb section but that gets so few hits i figured it would be pointless

bump the timing a few degrees...what is the cam??? and make sure the base idle screw on the carb is adjusted enough and make sure you use a vaccum gauge to adjust the idle /air bleed screws on the side of the carb if it is a holley based carb

it's a custom cam from chet herbert cams. the specs are, .532 .528 lift, 306 and 318 dur, lobes cntr is 108

it's a pretty hefty cam in my books.
like i said i'm new to carbs so which is which on the holley? last time it was running fine was when i had a guy i know help me but he doesnt work with me anymore. if it helps it's a holley 750 3310 model. i had to re set the floats cause junk got on the line and wouldnt let the needle and seat close and it was dumping fuel...

on the front bowl on each side there should be two screws....with a vaccum gauge hooked up, screw in the bleeds or out pending on where they are set right now and when you reach the highest possible vaccum reading give them 1/4 turn out after that

without a timing light to check your timing then you really have no idea what it's at, even if you think you installed it correctly. As of now I'd say the timing is your problem, gotta check it with a light man.
