Question MAF/Injector size difference

Would it make much of a difference if I have a maf calibrated for 36# injectors and I have 38# injectors in the car? The reason I'm asking is because I can't seem to find a maf calibrated for the 38#s at a descent price compared to what I can find the 36 maf. The two I could find are on 50resto.com.

This is the 75mm maf(Pro-m) calibrated for 36#s at $210:

This is the 80mm maf(pro-m) calibrated for 38#s at $315:

Will the 36 calibrated maf work with the 38 injectors? Or does anybody know of a place where a maf is a little bit cheaper? I really don't need the air filter either. I know C&Ls are cheaper but I've about problems with those.

the car is not going to run right, unless you tune the maf meter for the injectors. A tuner can do this

If you run a MAF that is calibrated for 36# injectors but you have 30* injectors, you are going to be running pretty rich.

As a side note... if you're at the point where you really need 38# injectors, then you should really be looking into getting a tune, at which point it wont matter what the MAF is calibrated for, as it will be adjusted with the tune anyway. Actually, once you get to 30# or largert injectors this should be the only method.

The reason I'm asking is because I plan on twin turboing my car. The maf I had bought for the 38# injectors was bad so I need to buy another one, and saw that the 36 maf was $100 cheaper than the 38 maf. I just need something to help my car idle and not burn as much gas as right now until I can get a tune, which would be shortly after I finish the build. Right now I'm riding around with the 38# injectors with no maf plugged up.

Also it is running extremely rich another reason I need a maf.

You're running your car with the MAF unplugged while running 38# injectors?

Not very much...but yes right now no maf with the 38#s...I do have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator though and the pressure is turned way down.

I bought all 8 injectors working perfectly for about $140 or so (can't remember exact amount, but it was around there). I was originally going to buy 42s, but couldn't resist this price. I'm just going to see how much these injectors can handle and if it's not enough to what I want I'll sell them and buy 42s. Do you think my maf situation will work with the 36 calibrated one?

you could get one for 36's and run 38# injectors. youll of course need a dyno tune to correct it and to handle the boost. you will find out really fast that 36's arent enough and youll be forced not only to sell your 38's without an maf to match, your going to have to try to sell a maf thats for 36's which is a very uncommon size so you might not get much money for them.

in the short run, youll save money just buying the 36# maf, but in the long run youll save money just selling the injectors you have now and trying to find a seller that has both the maf and the injectors you need (42's) as a package deal.

its your choice. just remember, if you cant afford to do it right the first time, how will you be able to afford to do it the second time?
