Default F303 cam questions

I just ordered a F303 cam, I dont plan to replace the heads right away so I am wondering is there anything that I should replace such as the rockers for this set up. I am doing the EFI swap into my classic mustang and the only mods to the motor for now that I plan to do is the F303 cam, Long tube headers, Msd distributer, Msd blaster 2 coil, and Ford Racing King Cobra clutch. Any suggestions are greatly needed and if you know where I can order the part for a good price that would be good too..

you should order new valve springs for that cam to make it run efficient and not have valve float

and why swap the cam and gain 5 hp and not atleastfind some gt40 heads and a slightly bigger/better intake to make that cam swap worth it?

yea, it really is worthless to do a cam swap and leave out everything else. just WAIT and get it all done at once. if you get the cam done you will be very disappointed with the gains, especially if you have someone put it in.... all that money for just a small gain since you have to pull the heads and intake anyway..... just wait and do it right the first time

just put the damn cam in, dont get caught up in what it could be because you'll never build your car.

why bother? it's honestly not gonna do much good.
if you really wanna go that route........ then you will need some new valve springs at very least cause like jt said, you'll get valve float without better springs
hell you can get heads ported etc. i found gt-40 p heads that have been worked on a site for 550 a pair

With the F-303, those exhaust valve springs will be getting solid (binding).... anytime you install a cam, you need to match it with the correct valve train, or costly engine damage could occur.

put it in and build from it! sure you wont realize the cams full potential right away but itll be there when the heads go on. the f- cam is a stout little cam youll like it. i got to ride in a notch that i helped a guy install the f- cam and let me tell ya it pulled way harder than the stocker did. i was impressed. get the right springs and check spring height its important! if you want a couple more hp swap the factory rockers for a set of crane 1.7 pedestal mount roller rockers, do it and have fun, thats what this hobby is all about.

I have to agree it's not worth putting a cam in a stock engine, it could quite possibly make the car slower.

You have to take off almost all the same stuff when you do heads anyways so just wait to install the cam for when (and you will) get heads and an intake to go with it.
