Default Electrical Issues

A few weeks after buying my car, 1984 gt350 hatch, I have been having issues with electrical stuff. First problem was my car wouldn't start. All the accessories, headlights, everything, then when i went to turn the key to start it up everything went black, radio, headlights windshield wipers and all. I fixed it by fixing the ground connection on the batter. I am was having an issue with my radio turning off and on and the lights on it fading in and out. Its a Pioneer DEH-P4800MP. I'm still having the radio issues. But just tonight my lights turned off totally. Didn't fade out just cutout instantly then like 2 seconds later came right back on.

I have no idea what is going one. If anyone can tell me where to start that would be great. Thanks

Check the body ground where it comes off the battery to the body. Clean up all contact points and see if that helps. If that cable isn't contacting right and the ground cables on the rear of the heads have been left off the car will have to ground through things like the shifter cable (auto) , clutch cable, throttle cable and other things that are not designed to use as a ground. I've seen a lot of cars roll up in my shop with the throttle cable burned up and throttle stuck because of a bad body ground. Electric current is lazy. It's coming out in the shortest and easiest way possible.

I think its the ground. Its also the radio doing it too. Its the one doing it the most.

Could this an act of either a bad battery or bad alternator not charging the battery enough?

It sounds like you have a headlight switch bad. Does the radio ony cut out at night?

it sounds like a bad ground to me, i just had the same problem with my dd. i my head lights, door locks, and wipers would all stop working/slow down on and off, then they just went. on my car all the grounds were going to a central location behind the dash and that connection was the issue.

It was ground related. Radio wasn't hooked up to ground. When I got the car the dash lights didn't work so i did a little research and found that someone had hooked the fuse for the cluster lights to the radio's ground so i just cut it not thinking to attach it to ground. So I took a wire connected it radio worked i disconnected the ground and it turned off and restarted and all that so i just installed the ground cable.
