Default 351 head swap for 302 block

I'm considering swaping my 302 heads with a set of 351w heads. Has anyone else done this swap and what of performance did you get afterwards.

Which windsor head. Just because its a 351 head means nothing, there are more junk windsor heads than good.

Stamp number comes from a 76. Why would 351 heads be considered junk.

because most are no different than a standard e7 HEAD. = SMALL valves and restrictive ports due to emissions bumps.

You have to run a dome piston with those don't you because they have a bigger combustion chamber.

no.......the 69 heads I HAVE, have a smaller cumbustion chamber than normal 302 heads such as e7 heads and I have flat top Light weight pistons in my 74 302 that is in my 66 as far as performance ......dunno.... I built the motor all at once it was stock and ran 15.4's @89mph stock but after the addition of these heads, a rpm air gap intake and bigger cam and roller rockers and gears , on street tires it ran a 13.3 @ 104 so yeah the heads helpped but as mentioned the other mods helped too...the heads had bigger valves added 1.94/ 1.50's and were lightly ported and converted to head studs all for 300 beans!! got them off a friend

My dad told me that people back in the day would run 351 heads on a 302 with a domed piston because they had larger combustion chambers. I looked on this chart The 69 302 had 58cc combustion chamber and the 69 windsor had a 60cc combustion chamber E7's have 62-65cc combustion chambers. Maybe the 69 windsor heads would be a decent upgrade for my car.

Because they are junk. I wouldnt spend a nickel on a 30 year old iron production head, just go buy a set of gt40 irons for 300-400 dollars, especially if you are going to go through a 30 year old head and do machine work. Ford guys have been screaming for decades for ford stuff, now a budget guy can buy a set of gt40 irons for less than it costs to go through some antique C9-D0 castings, that wont make as much power as the gt40 head to begin with.
