Default engine temp question

hey i have a 92 gt with a 302 bord 20 over, it has been running half way on my temp gauge at night, and in the day it runs almost 3/4 of the way up their, its about 84 here so i know that makes a diff i was just wondering if the motor should run that hot? the motor is completely rebuilt so its tight to, my gauge is stock. also when i turn the car off it sounds like the water in the radator is boiling, is that normal?

you might want to invest in an aftermarket guage if it worries you that much..... also check the fan clutch to see if its not spinning freely when hot, if it spins freely replace it...

no it has a 192 in it, im going to change it this weekend, i have an aftermarket ford raceing gauge but i dont have it in the car yet, last night after i stoped running it, i opend the radatior cap slow to let the pressure out then stuck the sensor on the gauge in the coolant and it said 180 in the radator is that to high?

ok kool, also i have the coolant that goes through my tb blocked off and the one hose leaks a little, and when it idles it bubbles out some could that be letting to much pressure out of the system?

Your running too hot for some reason. You shouldn't hear any bubbling or boiling in the radiator if you have a good pressure cap. Still your gauge reading does sound high. I have a 180 therm and mine runs on the "o" in the "normal" when it's hot out. It will run up to the "m" idling or driving under 40 mph since that's when the fan turns on. When I had a 195 therm it would run on the "r" while cruising but no higher. Make sure you are a 50/50 mix with coolant/water. Running too much coolant will not allow as much cooling. Water transfers more heat than coolant does despite what the name "coolant".
