Default Rebuild or new engine?

Here is the deal, I just picked up a 1989 lx 5.0 as a daily driver/project car. the car has 212k on it and i was just wondering whether it would be better to get the engine rebuilt or to just buy a new one. If you think i should get e new one, leave a link to someplace you know of that sells for engines.------Thanks.

well if its a daily driver rebuilding it will be cheaper. Unless you can put the engine in yourself then you will be able to find one for cheap, but if not then just have it rebuilt. They told me 1800 and I would get it bored .030 to 306CI

i want to make sure the engine is strong enough to do a few performance mods. A mild cam, headers, maybe some gt-40 heads, but the 212k miles makes me nervous.

buy a cheap 302 block thats in good condition and build the engine while your driving your car and when the engines done drop it in your car and sell the old engine or rebuild it too
