Default Car wont start?

First off, yes the battery is fully charged. I just put in a brand new stater solenoid, but when i trun the key, the car will not crank. if i jump the solenoid, the car will crank and start. What could this be?

Maybe the clutch pedal position sensor. If your new solenoid is good. How many volts are in the battery?

A fully charged battery has 12.6 volts but idk what I was thinking a bad battery cant be the problem because it starts when you jump the solenoid. Check and make sure the when the key is on that the small wire on the solenoid is hot. Did this problem just happen and have you changed anything recently other than the solenoid.

no its a recent problem. at work today (im a mechanic apprentice) i talked to one of the techs and they thought that it would be the ignition switch. could that be it?

Did you check the small wire on the solenoid to make sure it is hot? Are you sure that it does not have a clutch pedal sensor?

your car does have a clutch pedal sensor unless its been bypassed. in other words you cant start the car with out the clutch pressed to the floor.

check the little wire going to the solenoid if thats not hot then its not energizing the solenoid and you will most likely need a new ignition switch but check it before just throwing it in there.

well if this helps any, i figured if it was an ignition switch id try bypassing it, so i ran a push button ignition set up (had the button laying around) and it spun the starter, then started smoking so im almost positive its the switch. also im going to need a new starter, when it tried to crank it sounded wicked
