Default Header Question

When i bought my 89 Notch i was told that the car came with bbk shorties and bbk lowering springs, im almost 100% sure on the springs, they're bright blue. but the headers i was doing a little research on, and im confused. they have a rectangular piece of sheet metal that is tack welded to them, they werent in good enough condition to read what was on the rectangle so i just assumed they were, i ended up painting them ceramic black. but i saw on another forum ones that looked very similar to the ones i have and people were saying they were stock, only problem is, the ones i saw on the other forum didnt have the rectangle welded to them. can anyone clear this up for me at all?

If they are identical to the ones in the link you posted, then they are MAC. Stock headers look similar to those, but the bends are not as smooth (depressions in the steel).

ahh i dunno ill have to look. that would suckk. do the stock shorty's perform poorly? ive got a very non restrictive exhaust. no cats and a flowmaster setup. and if the OEM headers are similar to the MAC ones, they cant be too bad, can they?

the stock 5.0 headers were a improvement over manifolds but there kinked up design left a lot to be desired, the aftermarket headers are wayyy better than the stockers.

what?

exhaust manifold = headers

Definitions of manifold on the Web:

-a pipe that has several lateral outlets to or from other pipes

the stock headers should have been replaced the day they rolled onto the showroom floor.

My BBK chrome shorties have a rectangle welded on them that say BBK on the driver side, on the top of the header.
