Default 94-95 Cobra vs. 96-98 Cobra

I am a proud mustang owner now but am looking at buying a 94-95 or a 96-98 cobra. I was wondering if I could get some feedback from owners about the two. I know the 96-98 cobra is faster and has the DOHC but I also am a fan of the Pushrod 5.0 but I am just caught in between choosing right now. thanks!

96-98 are the biggest turds ever
if you want a mod motor go 99+

IMHO 94-95 or go home

edit, just pulled this from a website with drag times
1994 Ford Mustang Cobra 5.4 14.0
1994 Ford Mustang GT 6.1 14.9 (C&D Dec '93)
1995 Ford Mustang 3.8 / 9.9 17.3
1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R 5.2 13.8
1996 Ford Mustang Cobra 5.4 14.0
1998 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT 5.4 14.0

??? ...maybe the 2v GT, but not the 4v Cobra!! ....All really comes down to if you want a push rod 302 OR a 4.6 4v....I would look for the best deal!

wellllll i would say the 96-98 cobra would be the better choice stock for stock, but the 5.0 is going to be be easier to mod and with h/c/i you'll be far past the 4.6 and will have a much easier time working on your vehicle

I got to ride in a bolt-on 97 Cobra. It was pretty quick and winded to the moon. If you like a high-winding v8, 96-98 Cobra's are the ones to get. Although I will say, gears should be a must, since they have no bottom torque, at least some 4:10's. My cousin owned a black 98( ported heads, cams, etc.) It pulled very strong. I think he dynoed somewhere around 305rwhp, so they have potential. I should also mention, the mod motors sound much more exotic then the 5.0's, which I think is a plus.

I agree. I have worked on a 5.4 in a f-350 4x4 work truck with 275k miles on it. There was not a drop off oil underneath it. If it was a 302 there would have been oil everywhere.

I thought about this after I got my 95 gt 5.0 I love the car but man is the 94 and 95 models are odd to get stuff for but the 96 and up 4.6 models have easier mods and alot of extra all over the place might be a little more to work on but many things to choose from were the 5.0's seem to more of the motor car than electronic upgrades but this is what I have come acroos not too much plug and play options with the 94 and 95 but with the 4.6 models alot of options out there.

if you cant find plug and play parts for your 94-95, you obviously have no clue where to look... I have done a SUBSTANCIAL amount of work to my car, and the parts were never hard to find
