e brake light indicator?

Don't use a test light. Connect the wire directly to ground

Alright i touched the wire to the ground wire and the brake light turns on. i also touched it to a part of the brake handle and the light turned on as well. Does that mean its a bad switch?

You may have a short somewhere in your circuit. Find a wirind diagram and go from there. BTW, the circuit does NOT go through the computer, at least I'm pretty sure it doesn't.
