Creaking sound in first gear
I have a 95 gt that I recently purchased with 125k on the engine. When I am either going slow in first gear and accelerate there will be somewhat of a creaking sound or when I slow down and im in first, most of the time its when im turning into parking lots or turning onto the street. Its loud somewhat like a creaking door. Anyone know the problem?

RE: Creaking sound in first gear
is it only when turning? the "Creaking door" thing sounds like maybe upper strut mount bearings?? with the engine running, have someone turn the wheel back and forth while you put your ear next to the front strut mounts in the engine bay -- hood up here -- listen for that creaking door noise. i fixed some of those on a Le Sabre today at work :-D

RE: Creaking sound in first gear
my old 95 stang did that..check struts and tie rods..its probably not the tranny since it more than likely would of broken by now..my car used to make this awful noise at about 5-10mph and i replaced tie rods and it fixed it...it was rather embarassing to drive and have people stare

U-joints on drive shafts can make that noise too. But if it does it when you turn the wheel it is proly your strut bearings.
-If you have someone look at the spring while you turn the wheel it will probably "twist" the spring and then jump back. Thats the noise you are hearing, the spring winding up and jumping back.
-Another thing you can notice with bad strut bearings is after turning corners, the steering wheel will tend to want to go back in the direction you just had it a little.
