MAF For 87 Stang...
I need info on where I can get a MAF conversion for my 87 Stang, since they dont come stock.
I also need to know if it is easy to install? How to install? What tools needed? And if anything else needs changing.
Ive been looking everywhere for a kit but no one seems to have one, I found one on Ebay but I dont really want to result to a used one from the net.

RE: MAF For 87 Stang...
Why are you switching? SD is faster than MAF stock for stock. I'm currently putting down just over 230hp to the ground with my 87GT which is SD. Don't be fooled by the "You have to switch over to mod you Stang" line. I will be adding H/C/I swap in a week or two and plan on keeping SD with hopes of getting close to the 300 rwhp mark.

RE: MAF For 87 Stang...
I replaced mine when I went from stock cam to E303 cam. For some reason the SD could handle 10.5:1 compression heads and Cobra intake, but the cam threw it out of whack.
I got a MAF, computer, and wiring harness from a wrecked 91. It was almost a direct replacement, cost me about $200. The only thing I remember is that on the new wiring harness there is an extra wire somewhere that needed hooked up or the car wouldn't start. Of course I did it 7-8 years ago and can't remember it exactly...but the conversion kits, although more money, I believe are direct swap out.

for someone looking for more power down the road. save your self some time and just do the conversion. yah sd is faster stock for stock. but throw a sc on a stock sd car and a sc on a stock 89 and tell me which one is faster now. yah thats what i thought.

RE: MAF For 87 Stang...
Let me guess.......nobody has mad trouble with mass air swaps either......right? I'll take my chances as I know of several SD stangs running close to 300rwhp with one of them supercharged . I'll show the 1/4 slip and dyno when it is done as well. I've had people tell me that I can't put the power down that I'm doing now so how can you explain that one? I have a SD friendly cam and reasonable set-up going in and worst case I would have to get the EEC flashed.....still less hassle and money than converting IMO.
