no problem, i was told that by a member on here when i was looking to upgrade my throttle body, the reason i threw in the "might" is because if im wrong by giving advice that was given to me, im sure that somebody on here was going to correct me and/or the statement.

Why is it too large for the application?
How does it affect torque down low?

I agree with the replacement of one single component expecting huge gains in performance is not the correct approach, likewise the "bigger TB = "torque loss for a 302" is not correct though, or why do 287 cid SUV engines use stepped 65-68mm TB's OEM?.... or 238 cid V8 engines in luxury car setups use a tapered 83-70mm TB OEM? .... I also had to work two "after the fact" cases where the owners had already bought a 80mm TB, one was an '86 SD system with an AOD.... it gained zero HP but it produced them faster.

joel that tb on the gt40 head looks spectacular. ok so i'm pretty sure if i were to upgrade the tb i'd go for the 70mm, i've hear that it buts up really good to the cai which i have on, and i don't think it would be the only thing i'll do to my engine, but seems like its something i could do before i drop the engine and go for the full build. curious, it seems like alot of fox owners go for the gt40 head, is there a particular reason for this? does it add more power than lets say a cobra head or the bbk ssi head?

I use a 70mm TB and EGR spacer on an Explorer intake and they match perfectly. You might measure the hole in the stock intake, I think it is only around 65mm.

so besides having very nice tb and intake joel, why do so many fox owners use gt40 heads? are they really that good? or is price just right? what makes them different from say bbk ssi intake or a cobra 5.0 intake?

they are just a cheap upgrade that you can see some results from. the gt40 intake is similar to a cobra intake and the bbk ssi intake isnt really an option

They are the "grassroots" option if you will...... just like the C9/D0 351w and the 351C closed chamber heads were back in the day.
