Exclamation T5 mainshaft locked?

Hey:

Im doing a rebuild on my 1990 5.0 T5 with a 94 piece fordracing rebuild kit, ive got it all back together, but when i put the front bearing retainer on and tighten it down it lockes the mainshaft, and cannot turn anything but the output shaft.

Just for better understanding when i tighten down the front bearing retainer, i also have the tail of the trans bolted up.

FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!

During the rebuild I orderd a new second gear from Ford. Ford sent me a 31 tooth second gear when my old gear was only 30 tooth. Thanks again for the replies! Just now I gotta wait another week for a new gear.

even though you found the issue, sometimes that issue will occur with the right gear too, and what has happened to me is all it was was te lack of time I soaked all blocker rings in tranny fluid, so make sure you do that on reassembly

Hey mjr46, yah i soaked the blocker rings in oil, and lightly coated the bearings and mainshaft. Cannot wait till it all gets back together, im doing a AOD to T5 swap and rebuilding the T5 was one of the big things. Im expecting the car to move alot better with the T5.

You will love the feeling, however I recommend some sort of drag radials or something of the sort because first gear is all but useless with out them.
