Default What's a good performance chip

I want to install a performance chip on my 90 5.0 mustang. What is a good chip with lots of power that isn't too expensive and where can I get one?

Well, most chips are decent, but you aren't going to just get gobs of power with a chip. Your increases will depend on your mods too. The more mods you have to a point, the more you'll feel a difference from the chip. If it's bone stock and you just want a chip for a little more power I'd say superchips makes a decent one. I have one in my A9P and it works well with my setup now, but eventually my mods will be so drastic that a pre-programmed chip just won't cut it anymore. Let's hear some more details on the car and what you plan to do with it in the long run.

I don't have much of anything on the car as far as mods go. Cold air intake and flowmaster mufflers is about it. I just don't have the money right now. I start college in the fall and need to save for that instead.

A chip would work fine for you right now then. If you go crazy with mods eventually and need something custom you can always sell the chip. There will always be beginners out there in the market for one. With your current mods I'd guess you would pick up maybe 10hp and 10 torque with a chip. maybe a little more. Of course you could get headers or some other bolt on and make just as much power. It all depends on what you feel like doing first. Since a chip basically advances timing and fuel you could do some cheaper things like simply advancing your timing a few degrees, and installing an adjustable fpr to bump up your pressure a tad and then get some headers and an H-pipe. You won't spend as much going that route and you'll probably make more power.

it is better to just put more mods into the car like headers and a h-pipe besides a chip you arent going to see much and they are expensive so just keep with regular mods and get a chip later when your car is modded more

Maybe I'll just leave my car how it is for now. My friend bought a Fiat and I can't figure out why. Now I have to help him change the rear main seal. [:'(] By the time I get that done I'll be starting college. Thanks for the help though guys.

Skip the chip...buy gears. Much more bang for the buck.
