Default Gas tank pressure?

Recently I removed the canister that the fuel tank feeds into and then goes to the intake. I read that if you do so, you need a gas cap that is vented. I went to autozone and picked up one for a 84. Needless to say after my car runs for a little bit I go and remove the gas cap and there is a ton of pressure. Do I need to get one from a older mustang or am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

yep... As his response was " there all vented". After i installed the new one and realized that it is not. The new cap will allow vacuum but no vent. Is there one that I can verify if it is vented or a part # of one?

Is the vent line plugged? I had that problem b-4 and the line in between the canister and tank was plugged.

What I did was delete the canister. (looks crappy) So I wanted to get a vented gas cap. What I purchased was suppose to be a vented one, but it was not. So i am on the hunt to find one that IS vented and maybe a part# of such cap.
