You don't want to go moving it like 5 or more. Under 4 should be ok.

^ so whats the deal with the fine tuning?

you dont

fine tuning is done with a chip, and a programer

neither of which, you have

ok so i went and checked what my timings at. with the spout out it reads btwn 0-5 degrees? runs strong and feels much better than it used to. i set it to 12 degrees and it pings. set it back and it runs strong. it reads about 15 degrees with spout in. wtf? how can it run so good with the timing so low.

ignore the reading you are getting with the spout in... i told you this before

when you remove the spout connector you are removing the ECM's ability to control timing by itself. when you re-install it, the car is making the proper adjustments based on running conditions... which is why I told you to set it/forget it/stfu before

if you are pinging at 12°... then its very likely that you balancer is shot... replace it and reset timing again

this still sounds like ur doing it wrong. It should be set to 12 BTC with the spout OUT, not 0-5. With the spout in it will read differently than you set it at.

yah i know adder, i was just stating it to make it clear where the timing was at. i think your right about the balancer might be shot. theres no way its really at 5 degrees and running that good.

i took out the spout, started car, checked timing. it reads at 0-5 and sounds weak like its idling lower. but with the spout in it runs great.

i set base timing to 12 degrees with spout out and it sounded good, put spout back in and it pings like crazy.

so i think adder hit it on the spot, its probabley the balancer.

its smarter than you are.. trust me
I tried to det the timing on my 1995 GT and I can't find the matk an the damper or what to use on the timing pointer?
My book doesn't show it!
Is it the edge of the long pointer sticking out?
