Default ok 5.0 or 5.8

So I got a EFI 5.0 (1990 GT) and I came across a 5.8w (carb) from a bronco i dont know the year of the bronco that it came out of but its got a carburetor on it. I think the 5.8 only makes around 210 HP or so, but in the future I plan to do a H/C/I should I use the 5.0 or 5.8 for the upgrade?

i would go with the 351 depending on the condition and plus it's carb which is easier to make power out of so they say.

its a decent amount of work to do the swap.... just a thought.
I looked into doing it myself and then said screw it and bought a supercharger!

I looked at the same thing . You need to get the mounts which a 351 sets around 2 inches higher than a 302 so the mounts help lower it around 3/4 of a inch and then you have to get the custom brackets to bolt to the 351 that allows you to use your 302 accessories and then a set of headers that drop the exhaust down to get it to the factory 302 location a upgraded radiator and etc. it was around 500 give or take to get the odds and ends to drop the motor in on top of the price of the motor.so I bought another 302 and looking to rebuild it as well instead of all the swapping parts thing. But the always so there is no substitute for cubic inches it is all up to you and what you and your budget wants to do.Good luck !!!!!!!!

Unless you plan to make an obsene amout of power stick to the 5.0. A nice stroked 347 is pretty inexpensive. The ligher weight and ease of fitment offset the few cubic inches a 351 has to offer and a 450hp 347 is as easy to build as just throwing a decent H/C/I package on it. If you plan on above that power level the 351 may be the best route. A 393 stroker can be built on the cheap as well but fitment issues, hood clearance and a few other things may not make it as simple.
