Default hyrdaulic, roller....

My buddy just put in some rebuilt E7TE heads, and still had some issues with his rocker arms (not sure exactly what). Found out from the previous owner what cam was put in it, and now we ordered the pushrods and lifters that are supposed to go with that cam. Now the question is, it's a hydraulic flat tappet cam and lifters, but would it be ok to put roller rocker arms on it??

sure you can use roller rockers on it, you'll need pedastal mount ones and need to set them up properly

also, would it be a good idea to soak the hydraulic lifters in oil prior to install, or is that not necessary?

Imo it's pointless because I usually coat them with assembly lube then I prime the oil system which will pump the lifters up
