Clutch Cable?
I have a 87 coupe. I cannot get it to chirp second gear. It is stock with 3.27 gears and a Centerforce dual friction clutch that is a year old. My buddy thinks I may need a new clutch cable. Could a 21 year old clutch cable be the reason why I can't chirp second?
New OEM cable, stock quadrant(which is adjustable if you know how), ford HD clutch, and 3.08 gears... I could chirp it every time I wanted to.
There are a couple things that could be affecting your ability chirp em.
1) You have tires with a decent bit of traction and the amount of power your stock 5.0L is putting out can't chirp the tires. Chirpin' em is basically traction loss...
2) You are not shifting fast enough, period.
3) Maybe your 5.0 is old and worn, and not producing enough power to chirp it.
4) Your clutch is slipping.
