ive got an 88 mustang and the instrument panel lights dont turn off when you take the key out. if you take out the fuse for the instrument panel lights the lights stay on but if you take out the fuse for the horn, they turn off. any ideas??

you'll have to trace down from the switch to see if someone has cut the wire and sliced it into the horn circuit

unplug the dimmer switch and see if that makes them go off.

then unplug the headlight switch and see what happens, you need to check the power supply to the cluster from the switch when it's off, I'm not looking at a diagram so not sure if the switch is controling the power side or ground side but whatever the switch is controling to the cluster...ie, power or ground...out of the switch the wire that goes to the cluster to either supply power or ground should not have either one of the two, if it does even with the switch in the off position = bad switch

then get a wiring diagram and see where the cluster gets its source power from and back trace from there
