Replace oil pump/shaft? Or it's fine to let it go?

Question Replace oil pump/shaft? Or it's fine to let it go?

I have an 88 roller cam long block out of a Lincoln with just over 100k miles sitting on an engine stand. I'm Building it back up to go im my 83 Mustang. I hear about oil pump shaft failer, but I also hear about how 100k is just getting broken in.
I dont want to spend time or money changeing parts that dont need to be. But I also dont want to loose oil pressure or have to pull the pan with the engine in the car.

Should I leave it alone? If it 'ent broke dont fix it?

Or should I replace it while I have the chance?

Stick the ARP beefy shaft in. It'd suck to get it back together and have the stock shaft twist off, which they are very prone to doing.

Oreilly's/CSK/Checkers has "Sealed Power", "AE Clevite" & "Melling" shafts. From $9-$4. Any of those better then stock?

Buy the ARP shaft. Losing an engine because you were too cheap to spend $18 on a piece of steel is retarded.
