Just wondering what some of you are running, as far as a larger cam (not larger than stock, but larger than run of the mill) that you havent had any p/v issues.

Again, it all depends on the valve timing events for each particular cam. I run a .563 lift cam on a stock block 302 (89 Hatchback), no PTV issues. If it was installed "straight up", I'm sure the valves would hit. On the other hand, you could install a .520 lift cam, and have a clearance issue.

Thanks, but Im not asking what constitutes clearance, I understand it. Im asking what cams people are running so I can get a good estimation for my selection.

I don't think you clearly understand it cause just because I tell you my friend ran a .563 lift cam on a stock block doesn't mean you can do the same...everyones response will vary from a 512 lift up to 560+ but the larger lift cams usually have the valve events taylored.......your answers will greatly vary and won't mean you can pick any ole XXX CAM WITH yyy lift and get away with it.

Define "larger than run of the mill" camshaft.

Yes I know that. lol.

I can get an idea of, someone that has a cam with xxx duration and xxx lobe seperation, and xxx lift and doesnt have ptv clearance problems. I realise I cant compare one to another per say. I can gather data of what has worked and see if my selection comes close to that or if I am off base.

I realise that 220 duration with .5 lift has less chance of ptv than a 225 with .5 lift, and also that a 220 with .5 on a 112 has less of a chance of ptv than a 220 with .5 on 110. Thanks, I get that, lets move on.........

run of the mill being mid 210s duration, on a 112 lobe. Im looking between high teens, to mid 20s, lift arround 5, and either a 110 or 112 lobe. and please dont cite any of the ford letter cams.

you'd be best getting a custom cam in this case, it will achieve your goal far better than any ots cam that you quote un quote find that'll come "close" to the desired specs

Im pritty settled on this one. The only think Im not decided on is whether or not to get it on a 110 or as is on 112

Thanks primetime, I appriciate that. I forgot to mention however that I am interested in cams run on stock bottom 302s.

I have pritty much all the info I need anyways. Thanks.

I run the 51014 Lunati cam on a stock bottom end 302 with a blower and I am happy with it. Truth be told, I don't think I would have made less power with a stock cam.
