shifter **** ?

I have a hurst short throw shifter in my 1990 mustang, i recently bought a hurst **** that has a switch in it for my line loc, but the threads are bigger then the shifter threads, question is do i have to just bush it up to the shifter ****? Is there a special nut for it?

Any ony experience this? any help is appreciated thx
