Default Want to bypass smog pump... any issues?

So i want to use a short belt to bypass my smog pump.

I have to keep all OEM smog stuff on, as the car still has to pass emmissions. But ive heard that you can add a little power from bypassing the smog pump, and it would save me the troble of the smog pump locking up from getting used so much.

sence i still have all emmission's equipment on the car, will anything be effected badly by the smog pump being bypassed?

im not sure how the system works completely, but id hate to hurt some part's or lose performance from this.

thanks

Im about to take the whole smog setup off. It wont hert a thing if you just bypass the smog pump you would just need to run a shorter belt.

This chart may help! Btw i am the guy with the SHO on youtube : )

Im just worryed the way it pull's exhaust out of the head, through the EGR and into the exhaust (or however it work's) is somehow going to screw something up with the smog pump being disconnected.

thank's for the chart, ive heard i need a 84.5" belt, but with my underdrive pulley's it might be off.

haha, small world eh?

glad to see you on here.

If i were you I would get a smog pump eliminator, if not and you use a short belt. ur going to put too much strain on your tensioner and it will break. then no motor.

i dont understand how a shorter belt is going to put more stress on the tensioner?

thats the biggest load of BS ive ever heard!

the tensioner on a fox sits between the alt and a/c, and neither of those two are being moved. So the tensioner will not be affected in any way!

keep your BS info to yourself.

I've put about 17k miles on a shortbelt setup in my car and never ONCE had the belt break.

Now im running an even SHORTER belt (read: 44.5") and STILL havent had any issues!
