Depends on the amount of mods done to the engine. In my case (car mods in siggy), the long tubes helped. On an otherwise stock / lightly modified car not running heavily worked heads, the long tubes won't add much.

The long tubes offer more flow at higher rpms. They are used one higher powered cars that need that extra flow in the higher r's.

Between shorties and equal length headers which is best for a mild modded engine? what's the price range on some ceramic coated headers then of that category?

What do you mean by mildly modded? If you mean just bolt ons I would go with some unequal ceramic coated shorties. If you've got heads, intake, cam etc. I would go with longtubes. The price difference between a good pair of shorties and longtubes is about $200.00, with the long tubes being more expensive. You can get a good pair of ceramic coated unequal shorties for about $250-$275. I've seen longtubes anywhere from $400-$500 and I heard that they are a pain in the @$$ to install.

ive talked to vfast about the differnece between shorties and longtubes and there is almost no difference so i would just get yourself some unequal shorties they are easier to put in and you will only lose about a handful of ponies not much at all and you will have more money to spend on other mods that will make a big difference like h/c/i
