Clutch release cable.

Clutch release cable.
My clutch pedal does not feel as smooth as it used to. Almost like something is dry and causing friction.
Problem is nothing is dry. I've recently lubed the cable, fork and the sleeve the throwout bearing slides on..
I suspect either the cable is fraying or the sheathing inside the cable is worn or both.
Before I buy a new cable I was entertaining the idea of flipping the cable assembly 180.
This will make the cable slide on the opposite side of the sheathing. What do you think, can it be done?

replace the cable. you dont want that thing breaking when your pulling out into an intersection. try unlatching the cable where it meets the tranny and have someone push the clutch in and out and see if it binds.

I will set aside a few bucks for a new cable. It was just an idea to get me by until then.
I was not trying to flip it end for end. Just twist it half a turn to make the cable rub on the opposite side of the sheathing.

Replaced it today with a Ford Racing Products cable. Nice to see it's from FRP in Dearborn Michigan. Boxed in the US, By Americans. Which was proudly written on the box only to find Made in Taiwan written on cable.
Anyways the new cable makes my pressure plate feel 500lbs lighter. Super smooth and light.
I ripped apart the old cable and could find nothing wrong with the cable or sheathing. It was a Steeda cable that only lasted me about 2 years (40,000kms).
84conversion is right. I didn't try to flip it on the car but the cable seems to have a strong memory and I doubt it could be successfully twisted 180.
Anyways, thanks to all those who replied. Just for your information. The Steeda cable was about $30 2 years ago. I paid $60 for the Ford Racing cable. The one cable way out of my budget is the Ford OEM, they want over $200.
