Default Upping the boost, again...

So I made a post a couple weeks ago about blowing a headgasket after swapping to my 10lb pulley for my Novi1000. I've since fixed it and now have the 5lb pulley back on it with the new Fel-Pro Q9333PT1 high performance head gaskets, AFM powerpipe, ARP headstuds, 8 degrees base timing, 36lb FRPP high performance injectors, Vortech FMU, Walbro 255lph pump, and the 75mm pro-m bullet MAF (with the supercharger curve). These are just the supporting mods that I've got on for the supercharger (I do have other mods). Anyways, the first time around doing my headgaskets I was young and didn't get my head or deck surface cleaned up very well. I also re-used the stock torque-to-yield head bolts and was running 10 degrees base timing. I'm pretty sure that's what caused me to blow a head gasket. Do you guys think that I'm safe now to run 10lbs of boost now? I don't want to go through another head gasket.

you are going to pop the gaskets again. the 9333pt-1 is clearly listed as (NOT FOR RACING USE)

you should be using a set of Cometic MLS gaskets

Do it right, or do it twice (or three times)

To be honest I should've worded it a little better because when I yanked the heads neither of the gaskets were torn or blown apart anywhere. It was dumping antifreeze out of my driver's tailpipe. I'm 99.99% sure that I lifted a head. Number 7 piston was nice and clean as well as its valves lol. I don't have the time, money, or cherry picker to yank the motor and drag it down to a machine shop and get it decked otherwise I would've gone with a set of Cometics. There's no sense in putting cometics on unless you take it to a machine shop. I'm pretty sure Fel-Pro's little disclaimer is there just like my o/r h-pipe, it's stamped "not intented for street use". This is what it says in the notes "Designed for high performance engines." I'm sure that they will work fine I know they're not "the best". I think I'm just bored and wanting to talk, that's why I made this post.

wel, if you didnt want to go with the cometics, you still should have used a better gasket, such as the 1011-1

Yeah, your main problem was reusing the stock bolts. Good quality ARP bolts will hold the heads down quite nice. Check out my combo: 30lb injectors, FMU, 255lph, TW heads, TF-1 cam & GT-40 intake shoving out 16psi through a Vortech w/8rib 2.95 SC pulley and AFM powerpipe. I have never blown a HG(knock on wood). I do need larger injectors as my car is dangerously lean(14:8)@5600rpm.

man you just shot your self in the foot with that statement about not blowing any head gaskets!! lol

and good god! that is one lean ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you should look into UPR's 60# injectors, that way you have enough fuel! and it keeps the duty cycle down

Damn I didn't even see those when I was searching summit! Nice find though, I'll definitely use them if I blow this set haha.

Yeah I was a retard and still am learning lol. These arp head studs should do a hell of a job holding these heads to the block this time. I think as long as I stay conservative with everything I'll be alright. Thanks for the input guys. I'll be swapping pullies sometime this week. Look for a thread about me rebuilding my tranny soon
