Default jerking during deceleration at highway speeds

recently picked up a 89 gt, 347 stroker. didnt notice this untill i got in the highways. car jerks real violently when decelerating at highway speeds. if i get too low in the rpm's, it sounds like someone is hitting my driveshaft with a hammer. guy who had it before said he fixed the problem with an aluminum driveshaft but the problem is still there.

any help?

Check your distributor.... rotor is prob broken up. i had this problem at slower speeds years ago on my 91 GT i had.... the rotor was broken into 3 pieces inside the distributor.

I'd also give the U-joints a check just to be sure but if that was the problem the car would probably also have issues with vibration.

you say it jerks, but does it happen when your foot is on the brake or off, stupid question, and i don't know exactly whats happening but could there be the potential for your brake rotors to be bad? though at slow speeds it wouldn't sound like someone hitting your driveshaft. just a thought

There are front and rear u-joints. Get under the car and grab the driveshaft with one hand and the yoke (on the trans for the front and on the rear end for the back one) and try to twist them in opposite directions. If there is any play at all then replace it.
