Default Headers/H-Pipe but strange sound

Just installed shorty BBK headers and a BBK Off Road H pipe. I have the scrapes
and bruises to prove it too.
They make a great sound. However when decelerating it sounds like a leak
is coming from somewhere. I tightened the bolts from the headers to the H-Pipe
very tight. The headers have a Mr Gasket between them and the heads. They
are also very tight. I plugged the pipes that go to the back of the heads.
???????

It doesn't take much to gain your confidence.

As for the suspected leak. Try to plug the tailpipes with rags and run the engine. Get under the car and listen and feel for leaks.

After driving with the leak for a while. You can usually take the header back off the car and carefully study the mating surfaces for clues to where the leak was.

Pull the headers off and look to see that there are no cracks around the mating area. What type of gaskets are you using?

Is the smog pump still hooked up? If it is the sound may be from the pump pushing air out the pipe you removed from the back of the head. If it is plug that up also. IF not check all the connections. I us soapy water to find leaks or find a shop with a smoke machine.

The smog pump has been bypassed with an 84.5 belt. The piping has been removed.
I capped the pipe that goes to the back of the heads as I could not get the
bolts from the back of the heads off (used JB Weld on the 5/8 bolt).
I used a MR Gasket (but no gasket sealing material). Header bolts are on pretty tight.

I hope you removed the pump too. No reason for it to be there. What do you have for the back half of the exhuast??

Pump is still there (take off later). Nothing is hooked up to it.
I have Flowmaster mufflers in back.
For those who want to make the change, the sound is awesome!!!
