Well to add to my 5.0 problems, before I replied to this thread today my starter started grinding! So I am going to have to purchase a new one from kragen. Now my question is what the easiest way to replace the starter? I have recently learned when I installed the shorty headers that the top bolt on the starter is rite next to the headers. The first time I installed the starter it took me some time because I had to remove the top bolt from underneath the car and I had to deal with making my extension on my ratchet fit. SO would it be easier to remove the passenger side header to get easier access to the starter?
I just removed my starter about 5 minutes ago so I might be able to help. What I did was put my hand above the bolt and used a wrench to get it out. It would also make it a little easier depending on how tight they are if you had a shorty wrench but most people don't keep those as part of their average tool sets. I don't see how you could have used a ratchet in there at all, it doesn't seem like there is enough space.
