Default gages problem

i realize the 5.0 gages have always been critical.. but 2 of mine dont seem to be working.. the heat gage and the oil temp gage... now my friend and i have been trying everything.. takin apart the dash, fuses and what not... could it just need wire work considering its an 87 5.0?? hes bringing his test light over.. and hopefully thats the problem.. but would you think its b/c the wires r old and shot???

Could be the gauges, the wiring, or the sending units. Im afraid a test light isn't gonna do you much good, get a multimeter so you can check continuity in the wiring.
