I have a stock 5.0 block and was wondering if any body knows if this will work or do I have to take it apart and check it.Comp cam grind no# FW xe258HR-12.Its a 351 windsor cam.Part number #35-510-8
Gross valve lift .53 int .544 exh
Duration at
.006 Tappet lift 258 266
Valve timing open closed
at .006 INT 21 BTDC 57 ABDC
EXH 69 BBDC 17 ATDC
cam specs are for cam installed at 108 intake center line.
INTAKE EXHAUST
Duration at .50 208 216
Lobe lift .3340 .3410
Lobe seperation 112.0
I installed the cam timing strait up and have turned the motor over by hand but lifters arn't
pumped up yet and i wanted to ask this question before i hit the key and hered alot of ratlleing.Thanks for any input. Bill

If you havn't primed the system you are gonna hear rattling bc the lifters are not pumped up. The power band on that cam isn't much better than the stock cam. If you are completely stock then you are not gonna feel much.

proper way to check for ptv is with checking springs and converted stock lifters otherwise your readings are inaccurate, you are leaving out alot of needed info

Jegs told me this would be a very noticable cam but i should check piston to valve clearance.If this won't work what should I use ?Carbed ,T5,65 mustang i want it to get up and go and still drive daily.No power steering,smog crap,or even power brakes yet!

With those events @.050" tappet lift (IO: 4° ATDC and EC: 8° BTDC) you shouldn't have any clearance problems.
